　　 為慶賀2017年配樂大師約翰・ 威廉士（John Williams, 1932 -  ） 85歲生日，以及他與大導演史帝芬・ 史匹柏（Steven Spielberg, 1946 -  ）合作逾43年的情誼，Sony唱片公司特別推出這一套3CD+DVD的「終極精選」。專集收錄兩位大師合作的眾多作品，除了以往發行過的錄音，還包含了75分鐘重新編曲演奏的嶄新錄音。而在附錄的DVD中，更收錄了兩人於2016年十月間的對話錄影。

　　專輯將約翰・ 威廉士歷年來創作的重要電影配樂主題重新整理編曲，並由他親自指揮與他長期合作的戰友—波士頓大眾管弦樂團，演奏這些值得珍藏的不朽名曲。對於影迷來說，這樣的曲目內容當然是列在必需收藏的名單之列，對樂迷而言，本集又是音樂性與娛樂性兼備的超級強片，而對於音響迷而言，絕對發燒的音樂音效，又提供了一張足以用為音響測試的名片。

　　專輯收錄了「外星人」、「侏羅紀公園」、「辛德勒的名單」、「虎克船長」、「一九四一年」、「大白鯊」、「太陽帝國」、「第三類接觸」、「法櫃奇兵」等多部電影的配樂，而這些均為史帝芬・ 史匹柏與約翰・ 威廉士合作的心血結晶。這些電影早已經世家喻戶曉的名片，原先的配樂早已經是大眾了然於心的作品，重新加以編曲之後，配合波士頓大眾管弦樂團（The Boston Pops Orchestra ）與洛杉磯錄音藝術管弦樂團（Recording Arts Orchestra of Los Angeles ）精彩生動的演出，呈現不同於電影「配樂」之附屬地位，成為可以獨立欣賞的作品。

　　配樂大師約翰・ 威廉士創作過百部電影的配樂，得過五座奧斯卡金像獎，其中四次是最佳原著音樂獎，另外還獲得奧斯卡金像獎提名五次，而與史帝芬・ 史匹柏合作的電影則有十餘部，而兩位大師的合作堪稱是電影有史以來最偉大的組合。
